About the position

In this role, you will manage network elements for both voice and data networks, ensuring optimal performance and capacity utilization. Your responsibilities will include monitoring network performance, evaluating capacity needs, and submitting capacity triggers as necessary. You will also be tasked with forecasting and analyzing bandwidth growth trends to produce capacity triggers for bandwidth relief, developing plans to augment capacity as needed. This position requires a strong focus on engineering work, applied research, and the design of new projects, including the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of equipment and devices. You will specialize in planning and/or engineering, analyzing complex local and wide area network systems, and configuring communication media with various devices such as concentrators and bridges. As a technical project leader, you will handle moderately complex engineering assignments, resolving interoperability issues across platforms, including email, file transfer, multimedia, and teleconferencing. You will also support the acquisition and implementation of hardware and software, as well as subcontractor services. This role is designated as fully remote within the United States, allowing you to work from anywhere in the country while contributing to the company's mission of connecting the world digitally.

Responsibilities

  • Triggers projects utilizing the most feasible, practical, and economical means.
  • Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new projects, including design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of equipment and devices.
  • Specializes in planning and/or engineering.
  • Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
  • Handles moderately complex engineering assignments and configures systems to user environments.
  • Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e-mail, file transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing, and the like.
  • Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services.
  • Acts as a technical project leader or provides work leadership for lower-level employees, excluding those with full supervisory responsibilities, and requires limited direction and guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
  • 6 - 8 years of related experience
  • Strong focus on scripting and tools such as Ansible, Python, Perl, PowerShell, etc.
  • MEF Certified or MEF Aware
  • Excellent documentation/technical writing skills required
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
