About the position

The Sr Network Engineer position at St. Elizabeth Healthcare involves managing the purchase, installation, and support of data systems, including LAN/WAN systems, databases, storage area networks, and information security. This role requires an individual to work under general direction and tackle complex problems that necessitate in-depth evaluation of various factors. The engineer will be responsible for evaluating current systems and planning large-scale systems projects through vendor comparisons and cost studies. Additionally, the position entails providing work leadership and training to lower-level network engineers, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle the demands of the organization. In this role, the Sr Network Engineer will engage in client interaction by providing well-planned and efficient information system services to maximize the use of computer resources across the organization. This includes managing systems for the main SEH campuses and outlying properties, offering extensive training, documentation, and support for all users and systems. The engineer will assist the Network, Systems, or Client Services Manager in prioritizing service requests and providing suggestions for improvements based on daily issues encountered. The position also involves systems design, where the engineer will evaluate new hardware and software technologies, recommend system upgrades, and assess requests for additional information systems or modifications to existing systems. This includes developing and maintaining systems monitoring tools for proactive alerting. Project management is another key responsibility, as the engineer will oversee system and software rollouts or upgrades, assist in determining project resource requirements, and help prepare annual budgets. Personal growth and professional development are encouraged through participation in in-service meetings, educational programs, and workshops. The role may also include other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of St. Elizabeth Healthcare to improve the health of the community.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase, installation, and support of data systems including LAN/WAN systems, databases, and information security.
• Evaluate current systems and plan large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies.
• Provide work leadership and training to lower-level network engineers.
• Provide efficient information system services to maximize the use of computer resources across the organization.
• Offer extensive training, documentation, and support for all users and systems.
• Assist in service request prioritization and provide suggestions for improvement to management.
• Evaluate new hardware and software technologies and recommend system upgrades.
• Assess requests for additional I/S systems or modifications to existing systems.
• Develop and maintain systems monitoring tools for proactive alerting.
• Oversee project management of system and software rollouts or upgrades, including resource requirements and timelines.
• Participate in professional growth and development through educational programs and workshops.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or four or more years of experience supporting applicable applications or technology.
• Four years of experience administering Microsoft Networks or maintaining Cisco Networks, Storage Area Networks, Information Security, Microsoft and Unix Servers, and/or Virtualization Solutions.
• Expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks, and applications.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, software, programming, data communications, Microsoft Office products, OS back office products, information security, and communications.
