About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at American Airlines Center is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting operational computer networks to meet the arena's requirements and goals. This role involves managing various network components, ensuring security, and providing technical support during events, all while maintaining high standards of performance and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, manages, and secures an IP network based on Windows platform.
  • Implements and manages all routers, switches (VLAN's on layer 3 switches), firewalls, VPN, virtual servers, web servers, and database servers.
  • Manages and sets standards for data backups and system disaster recovery.
  • Maintains, assists, and supports Windows OS, SQL, Linux OS, VMware, SAN systems, and Microsoft 365.
  • Maintains Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and related servers to support operations, as well as manages IP address assignments.
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; managing updates and scheduling upgrades.
  • Performs regular network security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Serves as support and backup during events.
  • Maintains, creates, and updates accurate department documentation.
  • Assists with Help Desk requests and troubleshooting.
  • Serves as 'Event IT Manager on Duty' for assigned events; knowledge of POS systems.
  • Supports the PBX and VoIP systems.
  • Handles other projects assigned by the Director of IT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of data networking experience with Windows servers, server hardware, Network Attached Storage, Cisco and switches (layer 2 and 3), firewalls, and VPN.
  • Cybersecurity experience is a plus.
  • Dynamics GP knowledge is a plus.
  • Must have strong communication and customer interaction skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
