This position involves working on high-level design documentation, creating topology drawings, and testing new technologies. The Network Engineer will be a direct report to the Technology Group Product Manager and will need to understand business goals, processes, and possess technology expertise in these areas. The role encompasses the full technology life cycle, including designing, coding, configuring, testing, implementing, and supporting software, hardware, and systems. The Network Engineer will collaborate closely with Analysts and Product Managers to comprehend the business requirements that inform the analysis and physical design of technical solutions. Depending on the assignment, the Network Engineer may focus on either implementation, which involves creating new technology solutions, or support, which includes upgrades, maintenance, or issue resolution for existing technology solutions. In this role, the primary responsibilities include designing, configuring, developing, documenting, and testing technology solutions to meet business or technology requirements. The engineer will collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure proper integration of technology solutions while maintaining high levels of network availability and performance. Additionally, the engineer will analyze and translate end-user needs into technology solution capabilities and designs, providing recommendations for technology alternatives and leading the delivery of network solutions. This includes requirements analysis, internal proposal preparation, evaluation of supplier proposals, tool selection, and implementation planning. The engineer will also perform network traffic analysis, predict LAN network bandwidth needs, and recommend modifications to network configurations to reduce costs, maintain regulatory compliance, and improve service. Peer reviews of designs, implementation plans, software code, and configuration settings will also be part of the responsibilities, along with maintaining currency in network technologies and industry trends. The engineer will participate in planning and executing critical patches and version upgrades, create technical documentation, and apply operational break fixes while performing proactive maintenance activities until permanent solutions can be implemented.
