About the position

The Sr. OT Network Engineer is responsible for product selection, designing, configuring, and maintaining the architecture and operations of EverLine's OT Network landscape. This role serves as the primary point of contact for escalations, deep support, third-party communications relationship management, and customer proposal architecture and design. The ideal candidate should possess a strong awareness of network security best practices and the handling of sensitive security information. In this position, the engineer will take a lead role in receiving and acting on IT alerts and incidents, directly engaging with IT network monitoring providers. Responsibilities include implementing, maintaining, and managing OT network monitoring technologies, as well as maintaining, supporting, and administering the company-wide network infrastructure. The engineer will also be involved in firewall installation, design, management, and maintenance, performing firewall architecture, administration, and developing a network security model in accordance with industry best practices and approved compliance standards, such as NERC. The Sr. OT Network Engineer will analyze network health, proactively identify deficiencies, and recommend solutions to enhance network performance. Troubleshooting support will be a key aspect of the role, requiring the diagnosis of complex network problems, capturing and analyzing network traffic, and resolving issues within the scope of authority. The engineer will support network aspects of federal and customer inspections and audits, contribute to risk management and disaster recovery strategies, and manage networking aspects of customer network connections and secure data flow. Additionally, the engineer will oversee network and systems architecture through performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance, and repair, and design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) as part of upgrade projects or new network designs/builds.

Responsibilities

  • Serves a lead role in receiving and acting on IT alerts and incidents.
  • Directly engages and responds to IT network monitoring providers.
  • Implementing, maintaining, and managing OT network monitoring technologies.
  • Maintains, supports and administers company wide network infrastructure.
  • Firewall installation, design, management, and maintenance.
  • Perform firewall architecture, administration, and development of network security model in accordance with industry best practices and approved compliance standards, such as (NERC).
  • Analyze network health and proactively identify deficiencies and recommend solutions to enhance performance of network.
  • Performs troubleshooting support to diagnose complex network problems; captures and analyzes network traffic; identifies, locates, resolves, and repairs problems within scope of authority.
  • Support network aspects of federal and customer inspections and audits.
  • Expertise with complete infrastructure engineering life cycle (Design, Implementation, Migration and Support) for networks.
  • Responsible for network virtualization, network orchestration, virtual load balancing.
  • Contribute to risk management and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Participate in backup and restoration activities.
  • Manage the networking aspects of customer network connections and secure data flow.
  • Oversees network and systems architecture through performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance and repair.
  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) as part of upgrade projects or new network designs/builds.

Requirements

  • 7 years of solid network experience; OT experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of secure networking including Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture, IEC 62443 zones and conduits, micro-segmentation, and Zero Trust networking.
  • Knowledge of defense in depth and access control measures.
  • Knowledge of IP routing, protocols, physical and logical port structures; experience with OSI, dynamic protocols, and subnetting.
  • Understanding of sensitive information handling requirements and life-safety system criticality.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry (oil, gas, electric, renewable) a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying written technical information.
  • Able to learn and apply new technical information quickly.
  • Expert knowledge in multiple architectural domains.
  • Expert knowledge in network design to include routing, switching, datacenter and security.
  • Extensive experience in EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, DNS, SNMP, SSL VPN, IPSec, DMVPN, MPLS, HSRP, TCP/UDP, and other internet associated protocols.
  • Solid experience in network management, capacity planning, and redundant design for LAN / WAN / WLAN in a global enterprise infrastructure.
  • IP addressing to include subnetting, route aggregation, and BGP route maps.
  • Strong organization and dependable time management skills; detail-oriented.
  • Able to be responsive to critical operating situations, including after-hours issues.
  • NGFW Experience preferred.
  • Professional Certification (CCIE or Equivalent) preferred.
