About the position

The Sr Network Engineer role at Insight Global is pivotal for the management, operation, automation, and enhancement of the organization's Enterprise Network. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including the Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), WiFi, Datacenter, and Cloud Infrastructure. The successful candidate will be tasked with designing and implementing process improvements aimed at increasing accuracy, optimizing demand and resource planning, and enhancing ticket handling efficiency. This role requires the preparation of project plans, budgets, and business cases, which includes estimating necessary resources for various projects. In addition to project management, the Sr Network Engineer will oversee the creation and maintenance of precise technical plans, drawings, and documentation within a centralized repository. This includes both high-level and low-level designs that support ongoing projects and day-to-day operations on a global scale. Collaboration is key in this position, as the engineer will work closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC) to optimize network operations. This involves ensuring the availability of engineering resources for projects, process improvements, capacity planning, disaster recovery, availability, and lifecycle management. Furthermore, the role requires close cooperation with the Service Management team to maintain an accurate inventory of devices and locations in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and to effectively manage major incidents. The Sr Network Engineer is expected to maintain expert-level knowledge through continuous education and serve as a consultant to other IT colleagues. Additionally, mentoring and coaching IT Network Engineers will be a significant part of this role, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the organization's Enterprise Network including LAN, WAN, WiFi, Datacenter, and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Design and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and optimize resource planning.
  • Prepare project plans, budgets, and business cases, including resource estimates.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of technical plans, drawings, and documentation in a central repository.
  • Collaborate with the NOC to optimize network operations and ensure resource availability for projects.
  • Work with the Service Management team to maintain accurate device and location inventory in the CMDB.
  • Manage major incidents effectively and ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge through continuous education and serve as a consultant to IT colleagues.
  • Mentor and coach IT Network Engineers to foster professional development.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience as a network engineer.
  • Proficiency in ClearPass, including configuring the application and managing the platform (7 years).
  • Experience with Aruba Airwave.
  • Familiarity with HPE Aruba Switches and Access Points.
  • Strong skills in LAN Switching and troubleshooting.
