About the position

The Senior Network Engineer will support a State Agency at the Enterprise level in Staunton, VA. This role involves day-to-day networking tasks, network monitoring, and assessing network efficiency. The engineer will also be responsible for network configurations, troubleshooting, and assisting with deployments. After three months, the position allows for hybrid work, requiring four days on-site and on-call availability for after-hours issues.

Responsibilities

• Help with network configurations and monitoring of the network.
• Assess the overall efficiency of the network and implement solutions to increase efficiency.
• Review current network configurations for potential repairs and improvements.
• Assist with deployments and maintain inventory.
• Create documentation for network equipment and structure.
• Resolve connection issues and maintain the network overall.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field (Experience in lieu of Degree)
• 6-10 years of experience in Network Engineering
• Familiarity with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.)
• Experience working with Firewalls and performing maintenance tasks
• 5 years of experience working with Network Equipment (Cisco)
• Experience troubleshooting network issues
• Ability to create documentation for network equipment and structure
• Experience designing and architecting networks and solutions
• Experience monitoring the network for issues

Nice-to-haves

• Networking Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, Juniper Certs, Brocade Certs, Aruba Certs
