About the position

Mechanics Bank is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to join our team in either our Roseville, Walnut Creek, or Irvine office. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our network architecture to optimize performance, ensure efficient traffic flow, and maximize system availability. You will interface with third-party communication providers to guarantee maximum throughput and availability for the Bank's information systems and applications. This position requires collaboration with various teams, including ITOps, SecOps, and IT DevOps, to provide necessary network support. As a Sr. Network Engineer, you will design and implement network infrastructure, track security vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with audit requirements. You will develop and assist in the maintenance of all network infrastructure-related systems and applications while troubleshooting any network performance issues that arise. Documentation of the current and target environments will be essential, as will managing network monitoring and alerting systems. You will review performance logs, monitor system performance, and respond to alerts and incidents as required. Additionally, you will perform installation and maintenance of WAN and LAN equipment, and be responsible for all router, switch, and firewall maintenance and upgrades. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in network engineering, who is a team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. You will need to stay current with new technologies and responsibilities, ensuring that our network infrastructure remains robust and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement network infrastructure.
  • Track security vulnerabilities and audit requirements.
  • Develop and assist in the maintenance of all network infrastructure related systems and applications.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues.
  • Document the current and target environment with required documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in network engineering.
  • Demonstrable CCNP/CCIE level or higher experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or related field preferred, or comparable work experience.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco switches, routers, Meraki, Firewalls, Cisco ISE, Cisco SDWAN, and SD-Access.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Routing protocols including MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, DMVPN, OMP.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Experience with operating system architectures and components applicable to computer platforms/operating environments.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with no supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Splunk and AAA systems.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls.
