About the position

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of Forrester's firewalls, VPN, wireless, LAN and WAN systems. The successful candidate must have an expansive knowledge of LAN/WAN internetworking, network security, and monitoring technologies. Having solid, hands-on experience in multiplatform LAN/WAN environments, cloud technologies, and telecommunications systems is critical. Thorough knowledge of securely deploying and maintaining systems in these key technical areas is essential: firewalls, routing, switching, virtualization (AWS, Azure, Nutanix, and VMware), network management, and load balancing. The candidate must also be proficient in troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise in these areas, as well as triaging and remediating security alerts/vulnerabilities. Travel (domestic and international) is required. Joining the on-call rotation will also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Key contributor in designing, configuring, maintaining, and installing secure network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, NLBs, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls (virtual and physical).
  • Key contributor in designing, configuring, maintaining, and installing network security devices and software (firewalls, VPN, IPS, etc.).
  • Design, deploy, and maintain secure AWS/Azure cloud-based networks.
  • AWS/Azure network design to meet the platform and product team requirements.
  • Automate the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of network configuration and virtual platforms.
  • Assist our DevOps/SRE team to support the products and infrastructure automation.
  • Create and maintain functional/technical design specifications and solutions to satisfy project requirements.
  • Define, create network standards, and ensure that the network is deployed properly.
  • Key contributor in designing, configuring, maintaining, and installing IP videoconferencing systems.
  • Key contributor in the diagnosis and resolution of LAN/WAN, security, voice, and video issues.
  • Build and maintain servers related to network monitoring, reporting, and authentication.
  • Provide mentoring to less experienced network engineers.
  • Research and recommend new network and communications technologies that will help drive Forrester's business.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, AWS and Azure networking, VPN concentrators, load balancers, WAF, virtual switches, and terminal servers.
  • Software: PAN-OS, Cisco, Meraki, What's Up, Kiwi, Wireshark, and iPerf.
  • Manufacturers: AWS, Palo Alto, Azure, Nutanix, and VMware.
  • DNS, DHCP, MS Active Directory, and LDAP.
  • Protocols: routing protocols (esp. BGP and OSPF), HTTP/HTTPS, IPsec, PKI, Radius, and TACACS.
  • Must be a deadline-driven, results-oriented self-starter.
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Must have a strong desire to learn and the ability to adapt to technology change.
  • Ability to work in a team environment while also working independently with general guidelines.
