The NPI Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting various technologies involved in the manufacturing of high-quality analytical and medical instruments at competitive costs. This position requires a proactive approach to coordinate, plan, review, and enhance manufacturing processes associated with New Product Introductions (NPI). The engineer will ensure that production capacity, efficiency, and quality are maintained at optimal levels. A key aspect of this role is the ability to build and maintain cooperative relationships with various stakeholders, including Design, Quality, Production, Configuration Management, and Supply-based engineering teams, as well as external partners. Attention to detail, adherence to Lean Principles, and strong analytical skills are essential for success in this position. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and developing manufacturing processes while considering man, machine, material, and methods. This includes determining the optimal sequence of operations to reduce time cycles, simplify tasks, and minimize total costs. The engineer will also focus on improving manufacturing efficiencies by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment, and floor layout. Additionally, the engineer will prepare and support accurate parts lists, bills of materials, assembly trees, and explore outsourcing opportunities. The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will develop, evaluate, and specify tools, fixtures, equipment, and jigs necessary for the manufacture of systems, assemblies, and components, ensuring optimal operations in production areas. They will identify and recommend test processes, procedures, and equipment, coordinating closely with Systems and Quality Engineering departments. Furthermore, the engineer will interface with other engineering departments and vendors to ensure efficient and cost-effective production operations. They will also be responsible for preparing product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, which will support capacity planning for labor, production schedules, and future requirements. To maintain professional and technical knowledge, the engineer will attend educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societies. Quality assurance is a critical component of this role, as the engineer will design test methods, test finished products and process capabilities, establish standards, and confirm manufacturing processes. Additionally, the engineer will assist in design and development projects by training and guiding manufacturing personnel, ensuring a smooth transition from development into production.
