About the position

The Sr Operations Engineer is responsible for leading strategic capital projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing processes and improving operational efficiency. This role involves managing multiple projects to meet performance and cost expectations while serving as a key resource for manufacturing operations across all shifts. The engineer will focus on productivity enhancement, scrap reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing methodologies such as Kaizen and Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic capital projects focused on implementing new processes and improving existing ones within the manufacturing operations.
  • Manage multiple projects to meet cost, performance, and delivery expectations.
  • Serve as the go-to individual for Manufacturing Operations (all shifts), focusing on increasing productivity and reducing scrap.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).
  • Conduct root cause analysis for customer complaints and internal quality concerns, implementing corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities and process evaluations, including leading line-side reviews and team-based problem-solving.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of emerging technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, or Manufacturing Technology Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, including cross-functional team leadership and production support
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices (5S, SMED, Kanban, Line Balancing, Single-Piece Flow, TPM)
  • Experience with CNC Programming/Machining preferred
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, CAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels
  • Experience in Six Sigma project leadership and capital project management
  • Assembly process design and improvement experience.
