About the position

Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Senior Operations Specialist to join our team. This position is integral to our operations, focusing on higher-level transactions while ensuring compliance with regulatory and bank policies and procedures. The role requires a strong adherence to bank security policies and the confidentiality of bank records and customer information. The Senior Operations Specialist will perform a wide variety of operational tasks, ranging from minor to complex processes or functions, and will take accountability for the entire process from receipt of work to resolution and closure. This position necessitates coordination of information among various operational areas and customers, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. In this role, the Senior Operations Specialist will assist in the day-to-day coordination of departmental functions, including work-flow management. The individual will actively participate in ongoing process improvement and efficiency initiatives within the team. Utilizing multiple system applications, the Specialist may work across various areas of the department, adapting to the needs of the organization. The position is based on-site at either our Irvine or Cerritos office, emphasizing the importance of in-person collaboration and teamwork. Key responsibilities include receiving and reviewing incoming work, contacting appropriate resources as needed, entering transactions, verifying accuracy, and preparing, editing, distributing, and/or correcting specialized and/or complex documents. The Specialist will be responsible for the accurate completion of work products and data entry into various bank systems, adhering to established measures, deadlines, and assigned goals. Excellent customer service to both internal and external clients is a critical component of this role, along with participation in meetings and performing other job duties as assigned by the manager.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and reviewing incoming work, contacting appropriate resources as needed.
  • Entering transactions and verifying accuracy of data.
  • Preparing, editing, distributing, and/or correcting specialized and/or complex documents.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of work product and data entry to various bank systems.
  • Organizing and completing work accurately, identifying and resolving issues within assigned scope.
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Attending and participating in meetings as required.
  • Performing all other job duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bank operations and banking regulations in related functional area.
  • Must be fully cross trained in applicable operations processes.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, including word processing and spreadsheet software programs required.
  • Preferred minimum 3 or more years experience in operations of a financial institution.
  • Advanced knowledge in bank operations and regulations.
  • Able to help train others and answer questions about complex situations.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
