About the position

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is seeking a highly skilled Sr Operations Specialist to join our Operations Support team. This position plays a crucial role in the intensive review, approval, and tracking of all types of service provider utility-level electric construction billing invoices. The successful candidate will assist in financial, statistical, and operational studies to support various initiatives and ongoing informational reporting needs of PSE Operations teams. This role is integral to ensuring that our capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budget reporting and tracking processes are efficient and effective. The Sr Operations Specialist will be responsible for supporting the development of system and process improvements and solutions, ensuring that all duties are performed in accordance with regulatory compliance obligations. Upholding safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and field procedures is a key aspect of this role, as is promoting a culture of total safety within the organization. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to conducting business honestly and ethically, consistent with PSE's core values and Code of Conduct. In this position, the specialist will receive and audit both simple and complex service provider utility-level electric construction job packets for completeness, data integrity, correct account coding, and documentation. The role requires the development of ad hoc reporting with minimal assistance, as well as the collection and analysis of cost and operational data from various internal and external resources. The candidate will also perform routine accounting functions, such as journal entries, and will be responsible for researching and resolving data, accounting, and forecast problems. Additionally, the specialist will provide training and mentoring to other team members and departments on work processes, ensuring that knowledge is shared and best practices are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and audit simple and complex service provider utility-level electric construction job packets for completeness, data integrity, correct account coding, and documentation via online systems (SAP, etc.) and other sources such as red-lined as-builts.
  • Develop ad hoc reporting with minimal assistance.
  • Collect and analyze cost and operational data from internal and external resources.
  • Support Operations capital and O&M budgeting and monthly reporting process.
  • Perform routine accounting functions, such as journal entries.
  • Research and resolve data, accounting, and forecast problems.
  • Perform monthly problem order review and order clean-up functions.
  • Provide training and mentoring to other team members and departments on work processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • AA/AS in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years experience in department or related field.
  • Knowledge of FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) Accounting.
  • Experience in Process Improvement techniques.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite including Access and Visio.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet plans & goals.
  • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to present information in a professional manner.
  • Works effectively in a matrix environment.
