About the position

Xcel Energy is seeking a dedicated individual for a Standard Operations Position, where you will play a crucial role in the maintenance and coordination of daily work plans across multiple functional areas. This position involves managing a large number of crews to ensure that resources are utilized effectively and efficiently, with a strong emphasis on safety, customer satisfaction, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for providing work assignments to operations resources, assigning equipment, requesting materials, and completing other prerequisite steps necessary for the successful execution of work functions. In this role, you will need to have a thorough understanding of the work details in your assigned area, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of its assets and processes. This knowledge will enable you to establish the optimum crew and resource assignments. You will adjust planned schedules on a daily basis, assigning crews to priority tasks based on resource availability, scheduling conflicts, and real-time progress reports from front-line leaders. Additionally, you will review incoming designed work that falls outside the normal scheduling window and maintain visibility into the real-time queue, assigning new tasks as needed to manage exception work. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing work packets prior to assigning work, coordinating all necessary equipment, and ensuring that all materials are requested in a timely manner. You will manage work rejections from crews, triage additional work requests, and regularly adjust schedules to accommodate disruptions while maintaining promised start dates. Effective communication with local supervisors and building strong partnerships with stakeholders and customers at various levels will be essential to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust planned schedules on a day-to-day basis and assign crews for priority tasks based on resource availability and scheduling conflicts.
  • Review approved incoming designed work that falls outside the normal scheduling window and assign new tasks to manage exception work.
  • Review work packets prior to assigning work and coordinate all equipment and materials needed for work execution.
  • Ensure the work acceptance process is completed properly and coordinate site checking and job readiness.
  • Manage work rejections from crews and triage additional work requests, adjusting the schedule to maintain promised start dates.
  • Communicate schedule updates to front line leaders, crews, and other stakeholders to eliminate non-productive field time.
  • Build and leverage strong partnerships with stakeholder groups and customers to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five years' experience in construction, design, maintenance, or operations area.
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule and manage work activities to meet customer and internal stakeholder requirements.
  • Established analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet tools.
  • Ability to retrieve and manipulate data from reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of computer software applications including Microsoft products, work management, mapping, and scheduling tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Construction Management, or related field.
