About the position

The Generation Interconnection Tariff Services Specialist III is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing and managing Generation Interconnection Studies at Southwest Power Pool (SPP). This position requires independent decision-making regarding processes and practices, as well as effective communication with various stakeholders. The specialist will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the business management of interconnection studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering collaboration within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze, review, and lead business activities performed by the SPP Generation Interconnection Studies team.
  • Make recommendations regarding compliance and process administration with SPP Open Access Transmission Tariff, FERC, or other regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in engineering analysis support of Generation Interconnection Studies, including modeling development and power flow analysis.
  • Communicate professionally with SPP staff, stakeholders, and policy decision makers for requests, analysis, coordination, guidance, and presentations.
  • Mentor other staff members and lead leadership activities within working groups and Generation Interconnection efforts.

Requirements

  • Advanced job experience in Generation Interconnection processes and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for professional interactions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • In-depth understanding of the SPP Transmission System and Governing Documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with regulatory compliance in energy sectors.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools and methodologies.
