About the position

The Sr. Oracle Database Administrator will support large-scale migration and operations on a high-profile DOD contract, specifically within the I3TS program. This role involves providing enterprise-wide IT support to enhance the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities for DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate. The position focuses on ensuring secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of DTRA networks and mission services through database management and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes business processes and procedures; makes recommendations to system/software solutions.
  • Provides Tier 3 Oracle Server support, solving complex issues by providing sound solutions.
  • Applies best practices for tuning Oracle databases to improve overall system performance.
  • Supports software development and testing throughout the software development lifecycle, including incremental script execution and defect resolution.
  • Reviews proposed database structure changes and gains approval to modify based on best practices.
  • Researches interfaces to identify and code required updates to support integration.
  • Ensures software releases are fully supported and gains approvals before implementing new changes into the production environment.
  • Creates and maintains all Oracle databases required for development, testing, and production usage.
  • Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes, and menu changes through the development life cycle.
  • Implements standards to ensure all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security, and performance; performs reviews on design and code frequently to ensure compliance with site standards.
  • Plans and assists application developers and system administrators to ensure that any new Oracle products or release upgrades take place with minimal impact.
  • Troubleshoots all problems regarding Oracle databases, applications, and development tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience supporting Oracle database implementations of similar size, scope, and complexity to the requirements identified in this TO.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
  • One or more DoD 8140.01 certifications and technical credentials required for privileged/administrative access.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and present solutions to leadership.
