About the position

The Sr. Oracle PL/SQL Engineer is a hybrid contract-to-hire role focused on engineering and operationalizing advanced analytics solutions within the Enterprise Data Organization of a financial services client. The position requires a strong technical background in Oracle PL/SQL, cloud technologies (specifically AWS), and Big Data technologies, with an emphasis on delivering both investment and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a proven track record in data engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Create, troubleshoot, and enhance complex ETL processes using Oracle PL/SQL and SSIS code packages.
  • Lead and operate in a cloud environment involving AWS and Snowflake, migrating data assets to the cloud.
  • Integrate data and manage distributed data systems, effectively linking, transforming, and transferring data between multiple applications on-premises or cloud-based.
  • Provide technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist functional business units in meeting strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 7+ years of experience in IT systems analysis and application program development, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5+ years of strong Database Developer experience using Oracle PL/SQL, including stored procedures, packages, functions, querying, testing, and deploying.
  • 1-3 years of experience migrating assets to cloud environments, specifically AWS and Snowflake.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, manipulation, and development.
  • 1+ years of experience in the insurance or investment industry.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, Autosys scheduling tool, Sub Version, and Github/Jenkins (CI/CD) version control tools.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse applications in the financial/insurance domain.
  • Knowledge of Data Modeling and Database design is essential for this role.
  • Ability to design, implement, and oversee ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with emerging data-centric technologies such as data virtualization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to cloud technologies, Python/Pyspark, Shell Scripting (e.g., AWS, S3, UNIX, Python, Snowflake, etc.) and a willingness to learn and adapt to future technologies.
