About the position

As a Senior Oracle SQL Developer & DBA for the Aviation Cost Evaluation System (ACES) program, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties related to Oracle database management and development. This role requires a talented Oracle database designer and developer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing Oracle databases for software applications. Your responsibilities will include server operations installation, patching, and maintenance of Oracle 19c or higher databases, as well as managing instances, security tasks, privileges, and ensuring data integrity constraints and indexes are maintained. You will also be involved in importing and exporting tables and managing software applications that connect to and retrieve data from the databases. In this position, you will analyze and design business applications on complex, large-scale systems, specifically focusing on large Oracle databases and instances. You will demonstrate your aptitude in developing new and modifying existing data stored procedures, packages, queries, views, functions, triggers, and tables using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in Oracle 19c. Your role will also involve designing and creating new database architecture and objects for new phases or functionalities of web applications, as well as maintaining and updating existing schemas. You will perform basic Oracle 19c DBA functions, including compiling schemas and creating synonyms and permissions, and will be responsible for downloading and applying Oracle software patches as needed. Quality assurance testing and review of work products for the web-enabled version of the application will be part of your duties, ensuring correctness and adherence to design concepts and user/industry standards. You will also be expected to perform extensive data manipulation using advanced storage and retrieval methods, learn ACES team functional concepts, business processes, and practical use of all ACES applications. This is a hands-on position that requires the ability to multitask and work outside of your technical comfort zone, with a service-oriented mentality to take ownership of assignments and manage issues effectively. You will document specifications for programmers, maintain and update documentation of all database activities, design and modify ERDs and flowcharts, and ensure Oracle STIG compliance on development and live data servers. Strong oral and technical writing skills are essential, as you will need to communicate effectively within the organization and prepare detailed descriptions of issues, status updates, recommendations, and reports. The role requires organization and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work well in a remote team-oriented environment and self-manage tasks for success.
