About the position

The Sr. Paralegal is a vital member of the Employment Legal team at Warner Bros. Discovery, specifically supporting the News & Sports business units. This position is responsible for managing the entire process of creating and tracking contracts for executives, senior employees, on-air talent, and contributors. The role requires close collaboration with Employment Legal, Talent Negotiations, and People & Culture teams to ensure that all contractual obligations are met efficiently and effectively. The Sr. Paralegal will provide comprehensive paralegal support for various Employment Legal activities, including responding to administrative charges, subpoenas, and other employment-related legal projects. In this role, the Sr. Paralegal will be tasked with drafting and tracking a high volume of medium- to high-complexity employment contracts, talent agreements, and contributor contracts. This includes routing these documents to the appropriate employment attorneys for review and facilitating issue resolution. The position also involves supporting the final execution process, which encompasses drafting, reviewing, redlining, and finalizing agreements, as well as maintaining accurate data in the centralized contract management system. The Sr. Paralegal will play a crucial role in the administration of the employment/talent/contributors contracts lifecycle across the News and Sports organization. Responsibilities include reviewing existing contract terms to ensure alignment with company guidelines, drafting and proofreading new contracts and renewals, preparing termination letters, and maintaining data accuracy in the internal contracts system. The role requires timely responses to inquiries from People & Culture and Legal partners regarding contract questions, as well as assisting in gathering data for administrative charges and employee disputes. Additionally, the Sr. Paralegal will support the Employment Legal team with ad hoc projects as needed, contributing to a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the process to create and track contracts for executives, senior employees, on-air talent, and contributors.
  • Provide paralegal support for Employment Legal activities, including responding to administrative charges and subpoenas.
  • Draft and track a high volume of medium- to high-complexity employment, talent, and contributor contracts.
  • Route contracts to appropriate employment attorneys for review and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Support the final execution process, including drafting, reviewing, redlining, and finalizing agreements.
  • Maintain data in the centralized contract management system and ensure timely processing of contracts.
  • Audit reports to ensure accuracy of contract information in the contract database.
  • Respond to requests from People & Culture and Legal partners regarding contract questions.
  • Assist in gathering data and preparing information for administrative charges and employee disputes.
  • Support the Employment Legal team in ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of paralegal/contract manager experience in an office environment required.
  • Prior Legal, Human Resources, or Contract Administration experience preferred.
  • Completion of paralegal school/certification preferred.
  • B.A./B.S. in a related field of study required.
  • Ability to read legal documents for understanding and think critically.
  • Excellent document review and organization skills.
  • Must be able to draft and interpret contracts.
  • Capable of working with a variety of internal tools for record-keeping and case management.
  • Able to maintain a confidential environment; discretion is essential.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
  • Able to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft suite of programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Able to work well under time constraints and meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prepare work summaries for attorney review.
  • Able to take initiative and work independently.
  • Good research skills.
  • Knowledge of file set-up, maintenance, and filing procedures.
