About the position

The Sr Paralegal position at Molina Healthcare involves assisting attorneys with research activities and document preparation, particularly in managed care legal matters. The role requires handling confidential information and working both independently and under the guidance of the Deputy General Counsel. The paralegal will be responsible for drafting regulatory filings, maintaining corporate documents, and providing support for various legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare regulatory filings and other documents required by state and federal agencies.
  • Assist in responding to state audits and examinations.
  • Draft and maintain a variety of corporate documents including company formation documents, dissolutions, conversions, board and shareholder consents, resolutions, meeting minutes, and more.
  • Assist the Deputy General Counsel with the preparation of holding company filings.
  • Research statutes and regulations for various jurisdictions, focusing on health maintenance organizations, corporations, and LLCs.
  • Maintain multiple tracking charts for subsidiaries, officers and directors, intercompany agreements, and licenses.
  • Provide overall support to health plans, health plan attorneys, and staff.
  • Support new business and proposal teams as needed.
  • Assist the mergers and acquisitions team as needed.
  • Maintain Molina's intellectual property and interact with trademark counsel and the Marketing team.
  • Organize and maintain all substantive work products in an electronic file storage system.
  • Research historic and archived Legal department records as needed.
  • Establish a good rapport with state regulators.
  • Assist with other legal matters and provide general legal support.
  • Coordinate remote notarizations for executives and directors.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years' experience as a paralegal, including at least 3 years of managed healthcare experience with an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, document management systems, Westlaw, Edge, or Chrome, and Sharepoint sites.
  • Highly attentive to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and research skills.
  • Knowledge of NAIC regulations and state insurance departments' websites and filing portals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a heavy workload.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8-10+ years as a paralegal, preferably in an in-house corporate environment, including at least 5 years of managed healthcare experience.
