About the position

The Sr. Payroll & HRIS Specialist is responsible for executing full cycle payroll operations for over 800 employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with various regulations. This role also focuses on optimizing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), assisting with system configuration, data management, reporting, and troubleshooting to enhance payroll and people operations efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state, bi-weekly and monthly payroll for 800+ employees throughout the US, including off-cycle paychecks for terminations, reimbursements, adjustments, and corrections.
  • Deliver termination checks to company locations and UPS drop-off locations to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Assist with the management of employee records through HRIS and hard copy files, conducting regular audits to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Maintain timekeeping systems and monitor HRIS performance, providing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Process and respond to court-ordered wage garnishments, child support orders, and tax levies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain off-cycle check log and reconcile checks against bank statements; assist with unclaimed property process for escheatment.
  • Utilize HRIS to prepare and analyze payroll-related reports and data, assisting leaders in creating customized reports and dashboards.
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and team member separation tasks in partnership with Talent Acquisition and People Business Partner team.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, including W-2s and 1099s.
  • Provide professional and confidential support for payroll and HR-related inquiries, assisting team members with HRIS troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full cycle payroll experience, preferably for a company with 300+ employees.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration or Human Resources; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Multi-state payroll experience required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using HRIS and Payroll software required, experience using Paylocity HRIS preferred.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office/365 applications (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail, operating with accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on inclusiveness and collaboration.
