About the position

The Sr. Payroll Processing Specialist at Publix Super Markets plays a crucial role in supporting the technical aspects of the Payroll department. This position requires a deep understanding of payroll systems, federal regulations, and individual state requirements. The specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for each cycle, ensuring accuracy in wage types, payroll earnings, taxes, deductions, and payroll adjustments. Additionally, the role involves assisting other business areas with appropriate balancing techniques, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of payroll operations. In this position, the specialist will utilize their technical knowledge of SAP HR and/or Finance to navigate complex payroll scenarios, including Paid Time Off (PTO) and overpayment issues. The role demands exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to handle a high volume of work accurately and timely. The specialist must also maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to constant changes in the payroll landscape. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a flexible schedule available. Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for each payroll cycle accurately and timely.
  • Execute technical payroll balancing responsibilities regarding wage types, payroll earnings, taxes, deductions, and payroll adjustments.
  • Assist other business areas with appropriate payroll balancing techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal regulations and individual state requirements related to payroll.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive payroll information professionally.
  • Adapt to constant changes in payroll processes and regulations.
  • Utilize SAP HR and/or Finance systems for payroll processing and reporting.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of experience in an analytical position.
  • Technical knowledge of SAP HR and/or Finance.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes including Paid Time Off (PTO) and overpayment.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to constant change.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and handle a high volume of work accurately and timely.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity and tact.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management.
  • 6 years of analytical experience.
