About the position

The Sr Payroll Specialist at Connection is responsible for processing weekly and biweekly payrolls for various company entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll policies. This role requires a strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to manage payroll data effectively. The Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of payroll systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Processes payroll with data from time management systems for assigned company entities.
  • Maintains changes to and ensures the accuracy and integrity of employee hours worked and payroll data.
  • Enters and uploads all variable compensation and additional earnings sent to Payroll from various internal sources.
  • Runs audit reports to verify accuracy of payroll prior to transmitting files.
  • Completes internal payroll process control spreadsheets for balancing compensation processed for each pay period.
  • Calculates and prints manual checks upon request.
  • Ensures compliance and accuracy of time records and paid time off requests in the time management system.
  • Runs interface in UTM to upload hours into UltiPro system.
  • Resolves access issues with managers and employees in UTM.
  • Conducts weekly and biweekly auditing; runs scheduled and ad hoc reports as needed; reconciles various G/L and HR/Benefit accounts.
  • Audits a sampling of timecards bi-weekly and provides results to Finance and HR leaders.
  • Performs monthly/quarterly G/L reconciliations and HR/Benefit reconciliations.
  • Maintains escheat spreadsheet for state reporting.
  • Responds to payroll-related questions as the primary point of contact.
  • Manages a shared payroll inbox to answer questions or concerns from the organization.
  • Works with HRIS/HR to audit and correct data as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous UKG experience required.
  • Working knowledge of automated payroll systems.
  • Working knowledge of various automated reporting systems that work with payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Good understanding of common payroll practices and ability to calculate overtime compensation for non-exempt employees.
  • General knowledge of taxation regarding tax withholding inquiries.
  • Knowledge of how pre-tax and post-tax deductions affect tax withholdings rates.
  • Good problem-solving skills to review paychecks and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
  • Good customer service skills to handle inquiries from all employee levels professionally.
  • Organized with good time management skills to handle weekly deadlines.
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Quick study with the ability to learn new things with minimal direction or training.
  • CPP or similar payroll certification preferred.
