About the position

Holder Construction is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our project team in Atlanta, GA. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 1,500 associates. The Senior Payroll Specialist will assist in the processing of semi-monthly and off-cycle payroll, prepare payroll journal entries, and conduct bank reconciliations for payroll cash accounts. The position requires a keen attention to detail as the specialist will also be responsible for resolving employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies, ensuring the accuracy of taxable income, and reviewing state and local setups. In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Payroll Specialist will stay up to date on payroll legislation and implement necessary changes in the payroll system. The role involves collaboration with ADP to resolve payroll notices and ensure that responses are prompt and accurate. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of payroll operations and supporting the overall mission of Holder Construction to provide quality construction services across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing of semi-monthly & off cycle payroll for over 1,500 associates
  • Prepare payroll journal entries
  • Prepare bank reconciliation for payroll cash accounts
  • Resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies
  • Review payrolls to ensure accuracy of taxable income, state and local set ups
  • Stay up to date on payroll legislation and implement in payroll system
  • Work with ADP to resolve payroll notices and ensure that ADP is responding promptly and accurately

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in payroll administration
  • 401K plan administration is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • ADP experience is strongly preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
  • Strong analytical skills and attentiveness to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of employee information
  • Ability to research, understand, and apply federal, state and local regulations
