About the position

The Sr Pharmacy Tech Inpatient position at AdventHealth La Grange is a vital role that involves performing advanced pharmacy technician duties in a dynamic healthcare environment. This position is designed for individuals who are committed to quality patient care and are eager to contribute to the overall performance improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department. As a member of the pharmacy team, you will be responsible for acquiring clinical data to support pharmacists, coordinating special projects, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive approach to managing inventory and drug shortages, as well as oversight of controlled substances and billing processes, including Long Term Care (LTC) billing and Medicare D claim adjudication. In addition to these responsibilities, the Sr Pharmacy Tech will serve as a resource for automation technology, providing training and support for IV workflow, carousels, Pyxis, automated dispensing cabinets, and robotics. You will also be involved in advanced cross-training for dedicated buyers, staff, operating room satellites, and retail pharmacy operations. This position is PRN (as needed), with a rotating schedule that includes weekdays, shifts, and weekends, allowing for flexibility in your work-life balance. Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced pharmacy technician duties and participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Acquires clinical data to support Pharmacists and coordinates special projects.
  • Responsible for auditing, quality assurance sign off with barcode scanning, controlled substance oversight, and billing including Long Term Care (LTC) billing and Medicare D claim adjudication.
  • Serves as a resource for automation technology, training & involvement with IV workflow, carousels, Pyxis, automated dispensing cabinets, troubleshooting, compounding, and robotics.
  • Provides advanced cross-training for dedicated buyers, staff, operating room satellite, and retail.
  • Monitors compliance with regulatory standards and manages inventory and drug shortage optimization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
  • Pharmacy Experience Highly Preferred.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
