About the position

The Senior Pharmacy Technician position at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center involves managing inventory and ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and supplies in a healthcare setting. The role requires a strong focus on compliance with safety and operational standards, as well as effective communication and troubleshooting skills to support medication management and area maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and monitors par levels of inventory.
  • Reconciles inventory counts in appropriate systems.
  • Manages vial inventory including lot management access.
  • Orders and receives medications and supplies.
  • Completes cycle counts and inventory audits accurately and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoots and reports issues with medication storage devices such as refrigerators.
  • Resolves discrepancies in controlled access cabinet reports.
  • Addresses recall notification requests promptly.
  • Maintains equipment such as balances, printers, computers, and scanners.
  • Reviews processes and updates documentation including SOPs and competencies.
  • Manages CADD pump and supply inventory.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on Alaris pumps and updates library management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.
  • Two years of Pharmacy Technician experience in an infusion, hospital, or retail setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.
  • ACPE Sterile Products Certification.
  • IV sterile preparation experience.
  • ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency.
