About the position

The Sr. Pharmacy Technician at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a crucial role in managing pharmacy operations, particularly in inventory management and area maintenance. This position requires a high level of proficiency in handling medications, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining equipment. The technician will work closely with pharmacy staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor par levels of inventory.
  • Reconcile inventory counts in appropriate systems.
  • Manage vial inventory including lot management access.
  • Order and receive medications and supplies.
  • Complete cycle counts and inventory audits accurately and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and report issues with medication storage devices.
  • Resolve controlled access cabinet discrepancy reports.
  • Address recall notification requests.
  • Maintain equipment such as balances, printers, computers, and scanners.
  • Review processes and update documents like SOPs and competencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.
  • Two years of Pharmacy Technician experience in an infusion, hospital, or retail setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.
  • ACPE Sterile Products Certification.
  • IV sterile preparation experience.
  • ACPE IV Sterile Products Competency.
