About the position

As a Plasma Collection Specialist at CSL Plasma, you will play a crucial role in the pheresis procedure and plasma collection process. Your responsibilities will include performing all aspects of the procedure in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines. This involves donor set-up, monitoring, and disconnecting donors after the procedure. You will be responsible for performing venipuncture on donors to initiate the pheresis process, evaluating vein performance, and making necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth and efficient donation experience. Your role is vital in maintaining product quality and ensuring donor safety throughout the donation process. In addition to technical skills, you will educate new donors about the therapeutic products derived from donated plasma, explaining the screening process, health tests, appointment systems, donation fees, and center policies. You will ensure that all donor inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally. Monitoring donor reactions is also a critical part of your job; you will assist with any adverse reactions and notify the appropriate staff as needed. You will utilize a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to document incidents during the pheresis process, including machine alerts and donor events, and will be required to perform equipment calibrations and maintenance checks as outlined in the SOPs. Your responsibilities will also include troubleshooting equipment failures, documenting incidents, and ensuring continuous donor flow on the donor floor. You may provide guidance and technical training to other staff members and will be responsible for collecting samples for testing. Accurate recording of donor data in the electronic management system is essential, as is maintaining a clean and efficient work environment while adhering to Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies. Confidentiality of all personnel and donor information is paramount, and you may be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs. Bilingual skills may be required to better serve our diverse donor base. You will also perform other job-related duties as assigned.
