About the position
The position at NextEra Energy Marketing involves overseeing the generation fleet of NextEra and third-party customers in real-time markets. The role focuses on transacting short-term energy and transmission purchases and sales while collaborating with the fuels group to balance plant requirements. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of various generation types and market protocols to maximize profitability and ensure compliance with regional rules.
Responsibilities
- Oversee NextEra and Third Party customer's generation fleet in real-time markets.
- Transact short-term energy and transmission purchases and sales.
- Work closely with the fuels group to balance plant requirements.
- Apply knowledge of combined cycle, peaking unit, wind, solar, storage, and nuclear generation economics.
- Relay dispatch instructions and changes in unit status between various stakeholders.
- Determine generation requirements and coordinate fuel procurement.
- Support asset optimization through decision making around market fundamentals and fuel prices.
- Conduct real-time trading and scheduling for energy and transmission.
- Communicate real-time market information with the trade floor.
- Assist in training and supporting other traders.
- Accurately record purchase and sale transactions and log shift activities.
Requirements
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience in energy trading or related field.
