About the position

The Sr. Plant Accountant plays a vital role within the finance team of a large manufacturing company, focusing on month-end closing processes, variance analysis, and cost management. This position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and ensuring all financial data is accurate and submitted on time.
• Analyze Purchase Price Variances (PPV) and provide insights to management to drive cost efficiency.
• Conduct thorough variance analysis for material, labor, and overhead to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.
• Participate in the annual standard costing process, ensuring accurate cost estimates for products and materials.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to plant accounting.
• Calculate and monitor overhead and labor rates to ensure accurate allocation to products.
• Perform account reconciliations to maintain accuracy in financial statements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and financial analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems.
