About the position

The Senior Plant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the production process and managing associates at the facility to ensure efficient production while maintaining quality and safety standards. This role involves developing and leading the Plant Production team to exceed key performance indicators related to safety, environment, quality, customer service, and cost. The manager will build a strong team of decision-makers and future leaders within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leads improvement efforts to maximize plant efficiency, performance and cost without compromising quality or safety
  • Leads efforts and mobilizes resources to reduce unscheduled downtime
  • Engages and enables all employees to realize full potential
  • Supports and encourages a culture of employee ownership
  • Leads focus teams to continuously improve the operation
  • Adheres to all applicable procedures and policies
  • Leads by example with impeccable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) adherence
  • Develops strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization
  • Ensure compliance to all OSHA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards
  • Drives training and cross training to ensure production schedules are met within budget
  • Executes coaching and performance management as required to ensure goals are realized
  • Participates in the development of the annual department budget & strategic long term planning
  • Maintains effective communication of expectations and goals throughout the plant environment
  • Develop and communicate business results weekly, monthly, and quarterly
  • Ensures the adherence and administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Chair of Joint Health & Safety Committee with aim to drive high safety culture focus
  • Back up to Plant Manager

Requirements

  • Proven Leadership experience in a Production environment
  • Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions
  • Results orientated, able to analyze and solve problems in a decisive manner
  • Able to work under deadline pressures
  • Organized and detail oriented, adaptable to change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Experience in Food/ Beverage Manufacturing preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and Power Point
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, with focus on Operations Management
  • Minimum +5 years relevant work experience in Management
  • Minimum of +5 years supervisory experience in a unionized setting
  • Functional experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, etc. are assets
