About the position

The Sr. PLC Applications Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning PLC-based control systems for industrial automation projects. This role requires a deep understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial communication protocols, and process control systems. The engineer will collaborate with project teams to deliver innovative automation solutions tailored to customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement PLC programs for a variety of industrial automation projects.
  • Perform PLC programming, configuration, and troubleshooting for control systems using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar.
  • Develop and maintain HMI (Human-Machine Interface) applications to enable operator control and monitoring.
  • Integrate PLC systems with SCADA systems, ensuring seamless data collection and process control.
  • Conduct system simulations and validation tests to ensure correct system functionality and performance.
  • Commission and install PLC systems at customer sites, providing support for testing, start-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand specific needs and design custom control solutions that meet their technical and operational requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, functional specifications, and operational manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies during system development and deployment.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers, ensuring smooth system operation and troubleshooting after commissioning.
  • Stay updated with the latest PLC technologies and trends to maintain and improve the company's automation solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in PLC programming and automation systems.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming using platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Omron.
  • Experience with HMI development and SCADA systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing PLC control systems.
  • Strong understanding of control system design, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting (if required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in robotic integration and motion control.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0 trends.
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety standards and processes (e.g., SIL ratings).
  • Hands-on experience with field devices, such as sensors, actuators, and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
