The Sr. DBA will support operational database management processes, ensuring that all database systems are functioning optimally and securely. This role requires effective collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including the information security team, leadership, developers, system operations, and network administrators, as well as external vendors such as Cloud Service Providers and database vendors. The Sr. DBA will be responsible for performance monitoring and tuning, working closely with developers, IT Infrastructure, and IT Operations to maintain system performance within desired specifications. In terms of operational oversight and support, the Sr. DBA will serve as a key escalation point within the database administration team, providing guidance for effective resolution of issues. This includes triaging and responding to database alerts, capacity and performance reports, and end-user requests. The role also involves identifying and resolving issues related to database controls, systems, and applications, as well as leading maintenance and troubleshooting activities for the Database Administration program. Additionally, the Sr. DBA will manage database vulnerability processes, including patching, security scanning, and vulnerability assessments. Architecturally, the Sr. DBA will lead efforts to configure database resources, particularly with Oracle and AWS Aurora PostgreSQL RDS and DynamoDB, ensuring high availability and proactive monitoring to prevent issues. The role requires designing and implementing robust security measures across all database applications, utilizing AWS CI/CD pipelines with Python and AWS CLI for resource management and deployment. Compliance with relevant regulations and best practices is essential, including maintaining security standards and ensuring proper database configurations. The Sr. DBA will also monitor database activity daily to ensure operational integrity, support Linux patching activities, manage Oracle Critical Patch Updates, and validate database backups. Maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for database disaster recovery and automating controls and processes where possible are also key responsibilities. Compliance with audit requirements and best practices for user permissions and resource provisioning will be critical to the role.
