About the position

The Sr Power BI Developer will serve as a crucial link between technology teams and business areas, focusing on troubleshooting and translating technical issues related to reports and report data. This role involves enhancing reports and data through collaboration with business users, supporting data experts, and ensuring the quality and relevance of data from various sources. The developer will be responsible for creating user-friendly reporting and dashboard solutions, maintaining recurring processes, and following best practices in data modeling and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between technology teams and business areas to troubleshoot and translate technical problems related to reports and report data.
• Assist business users with functional and data requirements to enhance reports and report data.
• Support business data experts on select data repositories and assist with project implementations and modifications.
• Follow best practices to support dashboards, metrics, scorecards, and reporting solutions, emphasizing customer service and collaboration.
• Investigate, review, and analyze data from multiple sources to maintain quality and understand source structures and business relevance.
• Translate business requirements into reporting and dashboard solutions that provide relevant business information in a user-friendly format.
• Monitor recurring processes to ensure output accuracy and timely distribution, and maintain documentation and enhancements of these processes.
• Perform planned maintenance on BI solutions and underlying infrastructure, including application upgrades and service packs.
• Develop and follow adequate security procedures for data handling.
• Conduct report demonstrations and training sessions for business units and developers.
• Collaborate with business unit development teams to review data model and report specifications.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent Power BI development experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in complex development and scripting SQL.
• 3-5 years of experience developing with advanced Power BI tools including DAX, M, and Power Query.
• 3-5 years of experience with advanced Power BI report development techniques including bookmarking, selection pane, and dynamic measures.
• 3-5 years of experience developing reports and dashboards using end-user tools such as Paginated Reports Builder and Power BI Desktop.
• 3-5 years of experience using Visual Studio and SSMS to develop Analysis Services Tabular models.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure platform and services including Power BI, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Azure Data Factory.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Strong understanding of establishing and maintaining Row Level Security in Azure Analysis Services/Power BI tabular models.
• Expertise in database and data warehouse designs, data modeling, and ETL processes.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with relational databases and the ability to create calculated members and KPIs.
• Experience with Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
