About the position

The Sr. PowerBI Developer at Crocs, Inc. will play a pivotal role in supporting application development and architecture, as well as application and data governance. This position will focus on Mobile and Embedded Power BI Service and application and data engineering efforts. The developer will be responsible for creating enterprise-level Power BI reports and dashboards, particularly in the context of live-connect and composite modeling to Enterprise Power BI datasets. Additionally, the role involves the creation of Enterprise-level Power BI datasets utilizing DAX, DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit, and M Query. In this role, the developer will engage in all aspects of application and data management, which includes designing and implementing solutions that deliver actionable insights. The integration of new systems and sources into the existing structure is essential to provide customer-centric and business-relevant information. The position allows for hybrid or remote work, provided the employee can attend onsite meetings and training sessions on short notice. Key responsibilities include analyzing information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications to existing systems, as well as analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of designs within time and cost constraints. The developer will design databases to support Power BI measures and visualizations using various technologies such as Python, Microsoft SQL, PySpark, and DAX. They will also be tasked with developing proof of concepts and delivering Power BI demonstrations, working both independently and collaboratively to translate business needs into Power BI solutions for the Analytics team and business customers. The role requires collaboration with data processing or project managers to gather information on limitations or capabilities for data processing projects. The developer will also be responsible for documenting and communicating schemes, maintaining archived procedures, and automating deployment pipeline usage with Snowflake. They will facilitate and train various business stakeholders by designing and delivering training sessions, and oversee information technology projects or system activities. Testing changes to database applications or systems and deploying industry best practices in Power BI developments are also critical components of this position. The developer will provide technical leadership and mentoring to Power BI development teams, defining standards and practices, and will be expected to deploy new technologies that enhance data delivery to the final customer using PowerApps and Power Automate.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Design databases to support PowerBI measures and visualizations, using Python, Microsoft SQL, PySpark, and DAX.
  • Design and develop proof of concepts and deliver PowerBI demonstrations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to translate business needs into the design of PowerBI solutions for the Analytics team and business customers.
  • Confer with data processing or project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities for data processing projects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and iteratively to deliver new and improve existing PowerBI measures.
  • Document and communicate schemes.
  • Develop and maintain archived procedures, procedural codes, or queries for applications.
  • Analyze project data to determine specifications or requirements.
  • Automate the deployment pipeline usage, using Snowflake.
  • Perform requirements gathering to cover end-to-end developments, including source system table characterization, source acquisition patterning, ELT functional requirements, and test case development for testing in QA and Production environments.
  • Facilitate and train various business stakeholders, by designing and delivering facilitation or training sessions.
  • Work with the Power BI report creation process, using Agile, Python, and Scrum; and UX principles.
  • Oversee information technology projects or system activities.
  • Test changes to database applications or systems.
  • Deploy industry best practices in PowerBI developments and keep up with the evolution of the tool and any other PowerBI tools within the Microsoft Power Suite.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to PowerBI development teams, defining standards and practices.
  • Deploy any new technologies that will improve the delivery of data to the final customer, using PowerApps and Power Automate.
  • Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent evaluation from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of experience with enterprise-level Power BI report and dashboard creation, including live-connect/composite modeling to Enterprise Power BI datasets.
  • Experience with enterprise-level Power BI dataset creation, including DAX and M Query.
  • Experience in requirements gathering for end-to-end developments, including source system table characterization, source acquisition patterning, ELT functional requirements, and test case development for testing in QA and Production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability with Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit, and DAX Studio.
  • Understanding of deployment pipeline usage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Power BI Service, Mobile, and Embedded; Snowflake and SQL; Agile, Python, and Scrum; and UX principles.
