About the position

The Sr. Principal Antenna Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman will play a crucial role in the Test Engineering Team, focusing on advanced radar systems. This position involves working on antenna test equipment design, integrating new technologies, and troubleshooting RF issues. The role requires a commitment to quality and collaboration with design engineering to enhance hardware and testing processes. Initially based in Baltimore, MD for training, the position will transition to Waynesboro, VA after 1-2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Design antenna test equipment to support factory phased array testing.
  • Integrate new equipment and programs in a state-of-the-art facility.
  • Develop software for automating test processes and data analysis.
  • Troubleshoot RF issues during the testing of advanced antenna systems.
  • Support technicians with troubleshooting and training.
  • Analyze test data and identify early trends.
  • Participate in program meetings to develop root cause and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with design engineering for hardware and test improvements.
  • Maintain sensitivity to cost, schedule, and quality, adhering to company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline plus 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline plus 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with electrical and/or RF test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Professional software development experience using languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Current, active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Software development experience with RF and antenna systems.
  • Test development experience in a nearfield antenna range.
  • RF test experience and/or antenna test/range experience.
  • Familiarity with RF and antenna theory.
