The Sr. / Principal Electrical Technician position within the Life Cycle Engineering Department at Bath Iron Works is a critical role that supports the design, integration, and construction of modernized systems and equipment on in-service Navy surface combatants. This position is specifically focused on providing functional Electrical Engineering analysis and serving as the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for the DDG 1000 Class Destroyers. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including the Navy, procurement teams, and design representatives. In this position, the technician will be responsible for performing functional Electrical Engineering analysis related to the installation of ShipAlts into DDG 1000 class ships. This includes updating associated databases and calculations, as well as managing configuration changes to power systems that have occurred since the new construction of these vessels. The technician will also be tasked with specifying new functional designs and design changes in support of Navy contracts, Ship Change Documents (SCDs), and special studies for the DDG 1000 class ships. The role involves significant interaction with customers to resolve technical issues, recommend changes, and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the technician will develop and edit class common equipment procurement specifications, review and approve detail design products developed by BIW, and assess Vendor Furnished Information and Government Furnished Information. Some travel to ships' Home Ports and Availability executing Shipyards may be required, adding a dynamic aspect to the role.
