About the position

The Employee Relations Advisor at Northrop Grumman plays a crucial role in fostering a fair and respectful workplace by partnering with Human Resources colleagues to address dynamic employee relations situations. This position involves providing advice, consultation, and guidance to create sustainable solutions for individual employee matters and organizational challenges, while promoting proactive and positive employee relations practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee relations matters, providing fair and objective recommendations for resolution.
  • Collaborate with HR partners and management to address workplace issues and concerns with sensitivity and respect.
  • Interpret and apply company policies and procedures, while considering relevant employment laws, to maintain compliance and manage risks.
  • Provide consultative expertise to stakeholders on corrective actions, employment separations, performance management, conflict resolution, and policies/procedures.
  • Identify trends and root causes of recurring issues, using analytical skills and insights.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders to develop comprehensive solutions and proactive strategies for effectively handling sensitive and complex employee relations matters.
  • Promote proactive and positive employee relations practices across the organization to enhance the overall employee experience.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment law and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial/labor relations, business, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in human resources/employee relations.
  • Experience conducting investigations and advising on a wide range of employee relations issues.
  • Proven track record as a trusted advisor and consultant to business and HR leadership.
  • Ability to establish strong, collaborative relationships at all levels and across functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and respect.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, with demonstrated judgement and sound decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of pertinent labor/employment law and human resources management principles.

  • Highly analytical thinker and problem solver.
  • Experience with case management and documentation systems.
  • Training in investigation and/or dispute resolution techniques.
  • Labor relations experience.
  • Proven success in a fast-paced/high-volume work environment.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
