About the position

The Sr Principal Engineer Systems - Systems Engineer Architect role at Northrop Grumman involves providing technical leadership for the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which integrates the Missile Defense System. The position requires the candidate to analyze high-level needs, define system capabilities, and develop architecture artifacts to support missile defense operations. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams to ensure the effective integration and development of systems that meet mission requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the system's development.
  • Identify technical issues and coordinate across the C2BMC enterprise to resolve them.
  • Coordinate with associate contractors developing sim/stim equipment.
  • Report status at meetings and work closely with the test and integration team.
  • Analyze high-level needs and refine them into an integrated set of hardware and software.
  • Communicate desired capabilities to developers, engineers, and users.
  • Generate architecture artifacts to document and control the achievement of desired capabilities.
  • Design and develop new systems and integrate existing systems.
  • Ensure conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions.
  • Support internal and external design reviews.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies and methodologies.
  • Develop models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.

Requirements

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM Engineering discipline or related field with 8 years experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM Engineering discipline with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience developing system engineering artifacts such as specifications, interface control documents, use cases, and system architecture descriptions.
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers.
  • Engineering leadership experience in identifying and defining desired capabilities.
  • Experience with system-of-system definition, integration practices, and methods.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools for requirements management and object-oriented requirements definition (e.g., DOORS).
  • Experience with CAMEO and C2BMC processes and methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with training system development is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems is desirable.
  • Familiarity with training and exercise methods and systems, particularly missile defense training systems, is valuable.
  • Experience with training system solution implementation in missile defense.
