About the position

The Sr. Principal Linux Systems Administrator at Raytheon is responsible for providing IT systems administration in a heterogeneous environment, primarily focusing on Redhat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows systems. This role involves collaborating with diverse teams to support critical programs with classified information system capabilities, ensuring secure and cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to develop, implement, and maintain solutions to complex IT infrastructure problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Redhat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced technological environment.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including hardware and OS integration.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures.
  • Develop solutions and documentation for a variety of technical problems.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or a master's degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must have an active transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance or prior SCI/program eligibility prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must have Linux systems administration experience, including Red Hat Satellite Server.
  • Must have leadership experience.
  • Experience with Windows, VMWare vCenter, vSphere, VDI, and ESX virtual computing methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Ansible.
  • VMware highly desired.
  • Experienced in leadership and mentoring of individuals and teams.
  • Basic Windows experience desired.
  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions, specifically Net App.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
