About the position

The Sr. Principal Linux Systems Administrator at Raytheon is responsible for providing IT systems administration in a mixed Redhat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environment. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to support critical programs with classified information system capabilities, ensuring secure and cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. The position requires a strong focus on developing, implementing, and maintaining IT solutions while adhering to security requirements and providing guidance to program teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Redhat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced technological environment.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including hardware and OS integration.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures.
  • Develop solutions and documentation for a variety of technical problems.
  • Obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or a master's degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must have an active transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance or prior SCI/program eligibility prior to start date.
  • Must have Linux systems administration experience, including Red Hat Satellite Server.
  • Must have leadership experience.
  • Experience with Windows, VMWare vCenter, vSphere, VDI, and ESX virtual computing methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Ansible.
  • VMware highly desired.
  • Experienced in leadership and mentoring of individuals and teams.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining SIPRnet.
  • Basic Windows experience desired.
  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions, specifically Net App.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
