About the position

The Sr. Principal Mechanical Integration Engineer at Jabil is responsible for leading mechanical design functions for data center liquid cooling systems. This role involves collaborating with client engineering teams, developing specifications, and overseeing the mechanical systems essential for Data Center Infrastructure, Energy Storage Systems, and HVAC functionalities. The engineer will ensure that designs meet performance and code requirements while optimizing costs and maintaining operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Understand product specifications and detailed HVAC designs to lead reviews with all disciplines.
  • Evaluate thermal data from engineering or manufacturing tests to confirm product conformance to thermo-mechanical requirements.
  • Optimize cooling system designs to meet performance requirements while minimizing costs.
  • Conduct stress and flow analysis to ensure piping systems withstand operational conditions without failure.
  • Provide technical input to identify and mitigate project risks that may impact project plans and schedules.
  • Conduct component selection for pipes, fittings, and valves based on fluid type, temperature, pressure, and corrosion resistance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system compatibility and integration for liquid cooling systems.
  • Prepare technical specifications for piping components and systems, including testing and installation procedures.
  • Assist in the analysis, design, and implementation of mechanical systems in Data Center Infrastructure, Energy Storage Systems, and HVAC.
  • Evaluate mechanical system operations and recommend modifications to rectify malfunctions or accommodate system requirement changes.
  • Review CAD/Technical Data Packages to validate mechanical design requirements.
  • Evaluate and optimize manufacturing assembly processes by designing and testing methods and equipment.
  • Create detailed mechanical designs of components, sub-assemblies, and system integration.
  • Conduct root cause investigations to troubleshoot mechanical design and material issues.
  • Draft and contribute to test plans and specifications.
  • Perform tests, debug, and validate mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical system integration.
  • Proven track record of successful system designs and implementations in a relevant industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategy, and system coordination.
  • Mechanical Engineering expertise in liquid cooling systems integration and design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's degree in engineering or higher is preferred.
  • Experience in WindChill and DevOps are a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Energy Storage Systems and Data Center Infrastructure is preferred.
