About the position

The Senior Principal Network Wireless Modeling and Strategy Engineer will play a pivotal role in the emerging wireless team at Comcast, focusing on enhancing the Xfinity Wireless customer experience. This position requires a deep understanding of 5G and wireless technologies, as well as expertise in spatial analytics and machine learning to tackle complex big data challenges. The engineer will be responsible for supporting key strategic initiatives, which include analyzing Xfinity Mobile customer usage and performance, identifying wireless opportunities, and assessing the competitive landscape within Comcast's operational footprint. Additionally, the role involves the rollout of new network plans and features that align with the company's strategic goals. As an individual contributor, the Senior Principal Engineer will collaborate extensively with various teams and vendors to provide subject matter expertise on mobile and fixed wireless networks. This includes managing the development of a sophisticated mobile and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) / Private 5G network modeling tool. The engineer will leverage their in-depth technical knowledge of 5G networks, market insights, spectrum considerations, and financial factors to analyze network traffic, capacity, and the overall business case for network investments. The role also entails performing detailed data analysis to extract actionable business intelligence from diverse wireless network data sources, utilizing big data analysis tools as necessary. The engineer will be expected to conduct thorough analyses on various industry-related issues, including spectrum and regulatory challenges, and to produce comprehensive reports as required. Furthermore, the engineer will create both detailed and executive-level presentations to communicate modeling results and other wireless network analyses effectively. Staying informed about future 3GPP releases and features is also a critical aspect of this position, as is providing MNO network modeling-based analyses to inform business decisions and strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME-level expertise and guidance on mobile and fixed wireless networks, including technology, capabilities, spectrum, performance, and future direction.
• Manage the development of a complex mobile and FWA/Private 5G network modeling tool, incorporating data from technical knowledge of 5G networks, market information, and financial factors to analyze outcomes on network traffic, capacity, and business cases.
• Determine wireless network modeling scenarios and 'what-if' scenarios to run for analysis.
• Perform detailed data analysis and extract business intelligence from various types of wireless network data, using big data analysis tools when necessary.
• Conduct detailed analysis on various issues related to the wireless industry, including spectrum and regulatory issues, and write reports as required.
• Create detailed and executive-level presentations on modeling results or other wireless network analysis or technology.
• Stay up-to-date on the direction of future 3GPP releases and features.
• Provide MNO network modeling-based analyses for business decisions and strategy.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in the wireless network industry, with a focus on mobile wireless networks.
• In-depth understanding of all aspects of mobile wireless networks, including technology and financials.
• Experience with 5G and WiFi, preferably on the RAN side.
• 5+ years of demonstrable experience in modeling mobile and fixed wireless networks, considering technology, market, and financial details.
• Experience in managing vendors and personnel for modeling or related work.
• Significant industry knowledge and familiarity with U.S. MNOs.
• Experience in analyzing spectrum-related issues.
• Executive-level strategy consulting experience is essential.
• Data analytic experience is a plus.
