About the position

As a Sr. Principal, Product Designer at Ingram Micro, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience across our platforms. This position requires you to partner closely with engineering, product management, and business leaders to deliver high-quality designs that not only meet customer needs but also drive positive business outcomes. You will be responsible for ensuring consistency across the platform while utilizing your creative skills to produce and reuse UX and visual paradigms. Your work will help users make data-driven decisions more efficiently and provide an intuitive experience across various personas in complex scenarios. In this role, you will take ownership of defining an entire category of experiences, presenting and defending your design solutions to executives. You will engage with high-profile customers and end users to identify critical business drivers and needs, leading end-to-end feature design to create user experiences that delight customers. You will direct the work of both in-house design teams and external consultants, rapidly visualizing and prototyping multiple product directions while validating hypotheses and understanding the business and technical impacts of your decisions. Your deep understanding of UX best practices will be crucial in driving innovation within our products. You will also have the opportunity to coach and mentor other designers on the team, providing creative and product direction. Collaboration will be key as you work with Product, Engineering, Content, and Marketing teams to deliver a cohesive experience across all channels. Additionally, you will lead user research projects employing various techniques such as user studies, surveys, usability tests, and A/B tests to gather insights and inform your design decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and define an entire category of Experiences.
  • Present and defend your solutions in front of executives.
  • Interview high-profile customers as well as end users to identify critical business drivers and needs.
  • Lead end-to-end feature design and create amazing user experiences that delight customers.
  • Direct work of in-house design team and external consultants.
  • Rapidly visualize, prototype, explore multiple product directions and validate hypotheses - understanding the business and technical impact of your directions.
  • Apply your deep understanding of UX best practices to drive innovation in your products.
  • Coach and mentor other designers on the team and provide creative/product direction.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Content, and Marketing to deliver a cohesive experience across all channels.
  • Contribute to building out practices and culture across the design organization.
  • Lead user research projects by employing different techniques (e.g., user studies, surveys, usability tests, A/B tests).

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in or related to design, UX, UI, graphic design, product development, digital marketing, human computer interaction, or other disciplines and 10+ years of UX/UI product design experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in product design for large-scale marketing engines.
  • Proven ability to translate business and user problems into understandable solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design skills, trends, and disciplines as well as high attention to detail.
  • Expert knowledge of design tools like Figma and ability to work across multiple levels of fidelity.
  • Experience working with Agile and/or Lean UX environments.
  • Strong business acumen with well-rounded presentation skills and verbal and written communication.
  • Strong portfolio displaying world-class design work showing how you were able to get clarity where there was ambiguity.
