About the position

The Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - MBSE Team Lead at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading a team of systems engineers in the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program. This role involves overseeing the integration of missile defense systems, ensuring quality and performance through effective team management, and supporting the development of critical engineering documentation. The position requires a strong technical background in systems engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies, as well as leadership skills to mentor junior engineers and manage team dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the MBSE team and report to the SE Engineering Manager.
  • Maintain accurate metrics of team progress.
  • Support staffing responsibilities including interviewing and performance management.
  • Review technical products to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Lead iteration planning and manage the development of systems engineering artifacts.
  • Support junior team members in skill enhancement and professional growth.
  • Act as a technical interface to MDA counterparts as required.
  • Participate in Agile development processes including iteration planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience.
  • Current active U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with complex command and control systems, mission analysis, and performance analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing models for complex systems using DoDAF and SysML methodologies.
  • Ability to perform Object Oriented Analysis and create SysML models depicting system behaviors.
  • Understanding of layered architecture concepts and their application in modeling.
  • Experience transitioning projects into MBSE and familiarity with tools like Cameo and DOORS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current active U.S. Government DoD issued Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience with other MBSE tools like SparxEA or Rhapsody.
  • Understanding of Data Quality in MBSE model sustainment.
  • Experience with Agile Methods and Epic and Feature definition.
  • Knowledge of cyber security concepts and security accreditation processes.
  • Experience with Cyber Security, Risk Management, and network design.
