About the position

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Mission Effectiveness/Ops Analysis at Northrop Grumman is responsible for supporting the Systems Engineering Integration (SEI) Integrated Product Team (IPT) by performing modeling, simulation, and analysis to enhance program development and execution. This role involves developing mission-relevant scenarios, assessing operational effectiveness, and integrating system simulation frameworks to evaluate next-generation tactical assets in advanced threat environments. The position requires a strong background in systems engineering, operations analysis, and virtual simulation tools, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to support program development and execution.
  • Develop mission relevant scenarios and assess operational effectiveness of existing and/or emerging systems.
  • Develop and integrate system simulation frameworks and weapon systems components.
  • Analyze and test next generation tactical assets within an advanced threat environment.
  • Develop software to simulate real-time operations for virtual simulation testing.
  • Model operational environments and perform trade studies via computer simulation.
  • Support the design and development of visualization models and databases for high fidelity simulation environments.
  • Ensure performance capabilities of new systems are traded against cost and mission requirements.
  • Communicate across engineering disciplines to integrate capabilities.
  • Work independently or in team settings as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.
  • Ability to transfer and maintain a Secret clearance and any required program access.
  • Experience with operations analysis and/or virtual simulation tools (e.g., AFSIM, Brawler, STK, MATLAB).
  • Experience with MBSE modeling products (e.g., Cameo).
  • Experience with NGTS, AFSIM, Brawler, and/or FORTRAN.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience collaborating on projects with multiple teams.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience in weapon system level design, integration, test and evaluation.
  • Understanding of Integrated Air Defense Systems and capabilities.
  • Ability to translate Physics/Mathematics models into real-time simulation algorithms.
  • Experience with real-time simulation/software development.
  • Experience working within an Agile workflow using Atlassian Suite products.
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes.
  • Ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
