About the position

The Senior Principal Tableau Data Engineer at Northrop Grumman will lead the development of data visualization solutions to support the innovative Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) team. This role focuses on utilizing Tableau to enhance data analysis capabilities for a superconducting electronics wafer fabrication line, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring data fidelity in a fast-paced research and development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Tableau to build core capabilities for data visualization supporting a superconducting electronics wafer fabrication line.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand data analysis needs and create custom Tableau solutions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to data fidelity, dashboards, or reports.
  • Proactively develop data visualization solutions to meet the changing needs of a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all organizational levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience; or a STEM Master's Degree with a minimum of 6 years experience; or a STEM PhD with a minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Proficient in Tableau dashboard creation.
  • Experience in modern programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.).
  • Knowledge of database concepts and data structures.
  • Experienced in data visualization best practices.
  • Understanding of calculated fields, parameters, level of detail calculations, and hierarchies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in data science, computer science, software engineering, or a related major.
  • Highly skilled in modern programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.).
  • Skilled in statistical data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs.
  • Experience with manufacturing datasets and data structures specific to semiconductor or microelectronics engineering.
