About the position

As a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer at Volt, you will lead a team of engineers in the design, analysis, simulation, testing, and integration of digital electronic modules, FPGAs, and CCAs for various Department of Defense applications. This role requires a high level of expertise in circuit card, FPGA, and embedded design, with a focus on system-on-chip development, digital and mixed signal design, and RF design. You will be responsible for driving project milestones, providing subject matter expertise, and ensuring adherence to engineering processes and best practices in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in design activities, generating engineering drawings, developing models, integrating, and testing digital electronics products.
  • Drive an engineering team to the completion of project/program milestones.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in independent reviews and establishment of best design practices.
  • Guide and improve established Hardware Engineering processes and procedures.
  • Develop technical and bid approaches for pursuits and proposals.
  • Execute thorough design and peer reviews.
  • Direct and oversee testing events such as design verification and qualification testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of Engineering design experience with a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree.
  • Proficiency in managing schedule and resources to meet assigned milestones.
  • Positive attitude and proven leadership skills.
  • Customer focus and ability to collaborate.
  • Self-motivated and effective communicator.
  • Proficiency in electrical circuit design, schematic capture, embedded firmware design, electrical analysis, simulation, and test.
  • Proficiency in requirement development and/or review.
  • Proficiency in embedded full stack development including C, Assembly coding, OOP, Driver development, Bare Metal and RTOS development, scheduling algorithms, task and memory management, IP integration, Design for Test and Continuous Integration, and version control management (git, svn, etc..).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Machine Learning Model HW development and deployment including model optimization, ML learning frameworks and libraries, parallel processing architectures, and ML common algorithms (Decision trees, Clustering, Neural Networks, etc...).
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in full-stack development using Xilinx and/or Microchip FPGAs and SoCs.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in advanced FW and FPGA simulation, languages, and emulation techniques.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design margin analysis and design for production.
