About the position

The Sr. Process Control System Designer - Offshore at KBR is responsible for supporting offshore and subsea engineering activities by providing expertise in process control network architecture and instrumentation. This role involves directing critical activities, facilitating project design management, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The designer will also develop construction scopes, assist with site acceptance testing, and coordinate construction work packages, all while maintaining a high level of technical expertise in design and drafting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction on critical activities requiring knowledge and expertise concerning process control network architecture and instrumentation.
  • Facilitate project design and drafting management in accordance with offshore and subsea industry standards.
  • Resolve drawing development issues and implement revisions to construction documentation.
  • Develop construction scopes of work for defining work activities for construction contractors.
  • Assist construction contractors with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of instrumentation and telecommunication systems.
  • Review construction activity work schedules to assure efficiency in task execution.
  • Coordinate the distribution of construction work packages as necessary.
  • Provide design and drafting services for time/budget critical construction work packages.
  • Develop typical instrument installation details and hook-up philosophies.
  • Create typical loop diagrams generated in Intools.
  • Design Process Control System (PCS) and Emergency Shutdown System (ESS) architectural block diagrams.
  • Develop P&ID instrument nomenclature and document redlines.
  • Populate Intools instrument index database.
  • Deploy Documentum system implementations for design deliverables.
  • Create technical specification criteria per project.
  • Supervise and/or create deliverable drawing generations for various diagrams and plans.
  • Create Construction Narrative and Site Scope of Work.
  • Support MTO/FEED estimates.
  • Communicate with vendors for material quotes and availability.
  • Generate material requisitions for project manager approvals.
  • Maintain records of documents and correspondence related to technical design issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers and contractors on design and project logistical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in a drafting environment developing electrical/instrument plans and diagrams in the offshore and/or subsea industry.
  • Expertise in Process Control System Architecture and Design.
  • Working knowledge of applicable NEC codes and industry standards.
  • Proficient with the latest versions of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
  • Working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) version 2018 and Navis 3D viewer software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Site field experience in the offshore and/or subsea industry.
