About the position

Ashland Specialty Ingredients is seeking a passionate and driven Process Controls Engineer to join our Specialty Ingredients G.P. business at our Hopewell, VA facility. This role is ideal for individuals who are always thinking, sketching, seeking, and adjusting, and who have a strong desire to understand how things work and how they can be improved. The successful candidate will be a tenacious problem solver who enjoys collaborating with like-minded individuals. This position will report directly to the Plant Engineering Manager and will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our production processes. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and commissioning control systems, specifically by configuring and developing Distributed Control Systems (DCS). You will ensure that control software management is adequate and effectively applied to meet the site's operational goals. Additionally, you will develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) graphics that facilitate efficient technician response and enhance knowledge of process operations. Your input will be vital in project management and facility management of change requests, ensuring that all control system aspects are considered. You will also participate in the evaluation of interlock and alarms management reviews, support project implementation through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and engage in investigations of process control incidents to ensure that follow-up actions are completed to prevent recurrence. As a member of a dedicated team, you will provide support as needed to control systems across the site, ensuring reliable 24/7 operation of production assets. This role may require occasional travel, reflecting the dynamic nature of our operations and the need for on-site support.

Responsibilities

  • Safely follow Ashland policies and procedures

  • Provide support, as needed, to control systems across the site for reliable 24/7 operation of production assets

Requirements

  • Experience in designing and commissioning control systems
